Frequently Asked Questions

Everything everyone has asked us (and more!)

We believe curious, conscientious pet parents are the best kind—and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Below are answers to the questions we get asked the most. Still have a question we haven’t answered? Reach out to us here.

Frozen & Freeze-Dried Raw Diet

Three things:

  1. We use primarily organ meat. Instead of traditional muscle meat, we use heart, which is incredibly nutrient-dense. It supports your pet’s heart, liver, and kidney health by delivering the exact nutrients those organs need.
  2. No synthetic vitamins or minerals. We meet nutritional needs using real, nutrient-rich ingredients—just a touch of leafy greens and kelp to round out Vitamin K1 and iodine.

No fish oil.Fish oil can trigger sensitivities in some pets. Thanks to our sourcing—grass-fed, pasture-raised, and wild-caught proteins—our food naturally has a healthy omega 3:6 ratio.

We’ve swapped traditional muscle meat for heart, which is still meat—but better. It’s more nutrient-dense and supports long-term health.

We understand the concern, but there’s no scientific proof that higher organ meat causes digestive problems. After an AAFCO feeding trial and over two years on the market, we’re happy to report that our food has proven excellent digestibility and functionality results!

You don’t need to—our food already has a balanced omega profile. But if your pet does well with fish or algae oil, feel free to add it for extra support!

That depends on your dog’s size, age, and activity level. Use our feeding calculators as a starting point for frozen and freeze-dried diets as a starting point, and adjust as needed.

We recommend serving it raw. Our recipes are formulated to be complete and balanced in their raw state, and cooking can deplete sensitive nutrients. For best results, serve it as nature intended.

Yes! Our food is formulated for dogs of all ages, including large-breed puppies. The simplest way to figure out how much to feed growing puppies is to base their portion on their expected adult weight—or double the amount for their current weight and adjust as they grow.

Yes. We recommend feeding up to double the normal amount during pregnancy to support mama and pups.

Yes, we meet or exceed the AAFCO nutrient recommendations for large breed puppies. Feel free to reach out to us for a full list of nutrient breakdowns.

Nope. All the copper comes from whole food sources—no synthetics.

Our food contains naturally occurring copper, which is better utilized by the body than synthetic forms. According to holistic vet Dr. Katie Woodley:

“There has never been a scientific correlation between naturally occurring copper and negative outcomes. For most pets, it’s safe, essential, and well-processed by the body.”

Up to 3 months if stored sealed in a cool, dry place.

Frozen food is good for 2-3 days once thawed in the fridge. It can stay frozen in the freezer for a year, or the expiration date on the bag.

That rule is typically based on concerns about vitamin A or D toxicity. But when vitamins A, D, and K2 occur naturally, they help metabolize, balance, and support each other, preventing toxicity. Our short ingredient list reflects how nutrient-dense organs like heart, liver, and kidney truly are.

We use mixed tocopherols derived from food—non-GMO and naturally sourced. It’s gentle and well-tolerated, even by sensitive pets.

Not at all. Quick-freezing locks in nutrients and pushes out moisture, creating ice crystals. It’s actually a sign of freshness.

Whole Food Supplements

Yes! Portion into smaller containers or use an ice cube tray for easy refreezing.

Not at all! We say any amount is better than none. This is real whole food, so your pet’s body will use what it needs and safely get rid of the rest! The best indicator of finding the right amount for your pup will be based on the consistency of their stool.

Rotation is ideal! Each blend contains different plant ingredients. Rotate all four and you’ll be feeding them 24 different plants in a month—great for microbiome diversity!

If you are dealing with cancer or yeast and need a low-carb diet, Bailey’s Blend, Just Greens, Vitality Blend are below 3% net carb. The Golden Blend is less than 6% net carb.

Yes! It naturally contains 3000+ strains of probiotics. We don’t list them on the label because they vary by season and diet—just like nature intended.

Mushroom broth is cooked at high temperatures and/or pressure to release nutrients into the broth.

Mushroom probiotic is raw and fermented, keeping the full spectrum of nutrients, enzymes, and probiotics intact. We soak mushrooms in water and sea salt, causing naturally existing probiotics and yeast to grow and eat the mushroom's carbohydrate content, releasing the mushroom nutrients as the bacteria metabolize them. This process allows us to keep everything in a raw food state, enhancing all the bacteria and nutrient properties.
